My speech topic is How firefighters put out fires.
I chose this topic because I wanted to tell people how firefighters put out fires.
When I presented my speech I felt good and brave.
What I did well was I did eye contact.
What I could have done better was slow down.
Speech Topic: How firefighters put out fires
Have you ever wondered how firefighters put out fires? A firefighter is a person that puts out fires, cuts people out of cars and helps people if they are not breathing well. A fire is flames produced when something burns. I believe that firefighters have an important role in our community putting out fires. Firefighters use different sources to put out fires.
One source firefighters use to put out fires is water. Water comes from lakes, ponds, the sea, portable dams and hydrants. Fire trucks also take water and tankers take water too. Water is used to put out house fires, tree fires, bush fires and pine tree fires.
Another source firefighters use to put out fires is foam. Foam is made out of water and foam concentrate that makes foam. There are different types of foam. A class foam is used for house, car, and vegetation fires. B class foam is used for fuel fires and petrol tankers. Airport fire firefighters also use class b foam. Foam coats fire, coats the fuel and cools it down.
If firefighters can’t use water they can use beaters, forestry packs, shovels, chainsaws and rakes. Firefighters use these tools to create fire breaks to stop the fire from spreading. Beaters are a tool that are made from old hoses and firefighters use them to beat out fires. The tools can only be used for forestry fires and vegetation fires.
I strongly believe that firefighters have an important job putting out fires using water, foam and tools.
